Frequenty Asked
Questions
How do I join?
To join the American
Legion Riders of Post 223:
- Print
out a membership
application and complete it.
- Bring the application, a copy of your motorcycle
registration, a copy of your current dues card, and a check
for dues to Post 223 (make the check out to "American
Legion Riders Post 223").
- Leave the information with the bartender,
asking her to place it in the Legion Riders box, or bring
the information to any Legion Roders meeting on the 4th Tuesday
of each month.
Do I have to belong to Post 223 to join?
Absolutely not. As long
as you are a current, paid-up member of the American Legion,
Auxiliary, or SAL at any post, you are eligible to join the
American Legion Riders of Post 223.
How much are dues?
Dues are $10/year per
person, regardless of whether you're a Full Member or a Supporting
Member.
Do I have to be a member to go on rides?
Yes and no. There may
be some rides that are set aside just for the group (contact
us first and ask) and when we ride in parades, participation
is limited to just ALR members. Other rides, such as poker runs,
are open to anyone. To participate in one of those rides, print
out an Event Waiver
Form, fill it out, and bring it with you. We cannot allow
you to ride with us without a completed waiver (per the lawyers).
What are Supporting Members?
Supporting Members are
those people who believe in our goals and mission and wish to
participate, but do not own motorcycles. The only real differences
between them and Full Members are that: a. They do not have
voting rights, and b. If they wear the ALR back patch or other
insignia, they must wear a rocker that says "I Support."
Our Supporting members are invaluable to us, as they help with
running functions and providing support for rides by manning
chase vehicles (cars or trucks with supplies in the event of
a breakdown, etc.).
